vendor crush: hagerty photography

So it's time for me to celebrate one of my favs!

I met Sarah with Hagerty Photography a while back and I have to say this woman is unforgettable! I don't know if its her rockn' red locks or her cool bohemian style that I am so gaga over...but what I am sure of , is that you haven't checked her out yet- you are missing out!

Here is her interview with M2B:

What inspired you to start your business?

I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. From the excitement of capturing the perfect shot to the satisfaction of chronicling life unscripted, I was hooked from the start. My formal photography training in college gave me the fine-tuning I needed to move from a girl who loved snapping photos to a professional photographer with a defined style. Turning my passion into a full-time business with my husband has been an indescribable experience.

What’s truly amazing about my job is that I continue to be inspired every day. At any given moment, you might find me with a bride and groom saying, “All right, we’re done for the day.” Then something will catch my eye – gorgeous contrasting colors or a one-of-a-kind backdrop – and we’re on to the next shot. When I find a great composition with emotional lighting, I get so excited. My clients can attest to the fact that I’m practically giddy when the subject, the setting, and the lighting come together perfectly. How many people can say that they feel giddy about their job? Now that’s inspiring.

What is your favorite part of a wedding?

While this doesn’t happen at every wedding, my favorite part of the day is when the bride and groom have a special meeting before the ceremony. There are no crowds, no vows, no toasts or bouquet tosses yet – just the bride and groom sharing this private time together on the most important and exciting day of their lives. When the groom catches a first glimpse of his stunning bride, and the bride sees the look of total trust in her groom’s eyes, I often find myself having to hold back a tear. To be able to capture the emotions of this moment is so special to me.

The photos from this pre-ceremony shoot are relaxed and natural. There is no rush, as this time is planned into the schedule; and when we’re done, the fun begins. The rest of the day will fly by in a beautiful blur, but this time of calm and togetherness before the festivities will stay in the couple’s minds for years to come.

What is unique about the service you offer?

Our photography style is organic. We not only capture your special moments, we capture you We always have two photographers, two angles, and two perspectives on the scene, to ensure that not a moment is missed. in the images.
A wedding day is all about the details, so our brides appreciate the quality in our images as we celebrate everything from the fabulous fabric of her dress, to the cute freckle on her shoulder as she dances with her father, to the frosting on her husband’s nose as they share their first bite of wedding cake.
We’ll spend a lot of time with you - from the initial meeting to the pre-wedding shoots, including engagement, bridal, boudoir, and the rehearsal dinner. We’ll also go over your must-have pictures beforehand so that, on the day of your wedding, we can orchestrate the images while you sit back and savor every moment.

By the time you say, “I do,” we’ll have a strong sense of who you are and what you want to see as you turn the pages of your wedding album. We’re not strangers when we arrive at your wedding; we’re friends who are eager to celebrate your day and to tell the story of your wedding through our photos.

If a movie were made about your business, what would it be called?

Well, that’s an interesting question. I think the title of our movie could be Life in Focus.

On one level, we spend our days focusing on the lives of our clients. We’re capturing a very specific and special time in their lives, as they get ready to set off on a new adventure together.
On another level, as my husband and I turned my once part-time photography business into a full-time profession after the arrival of our first son several years ago, our lives seemed to suddenly come into focus. We’re now following our passion for a living, and feel more than ever that our goals are focused in the right direction.

What is your favorite cheesy wedding song?

I always look at my husband, Nick, when “I Got A Feeling” by the Black Eye’d Peas is played at the reception. Whether a DJ plays it or a band covers it, this song brings everyone to the dance floor. At this point in the night, the bride and groom are relaxed and feeling on top of the world, and the guests are just so happy to celebrate right alongside them. Nick always catches my eye when Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” comes on. It captures the hopeful spirit of the day in such a classically cheesy way that you just have to love it. If both of these songs aren’t played at some point in the night, we’re quite surprised. They seem to be on every wedding reception playlist.

What is your favorite wedding cake flavor?

Well, it’s hard to find a moment to grab even a nibble of wedding cake when you’re on the job. But, if someone were to save a slice for me for later in the night, I’d be happiest to find a cake with fruit in it! A lemon cake, a layer of raspberry, or a sliced strawberry topping sounds delicious to me.

What is the best advice you have for a bride in her planning process?

I would absolutely recommend meeting with a wedding planner. If hiring a planner from start to finish isn’t in your budget, then have a wedding planner there for the day of the wedding only. Your ceremony, reception, and all of the special moments in between will not only look amazing, but they’ll seem to flow together effortlessly. Leave the details of the day in the hands of a professional and enjoy a stress-free, gorgeous wedding that you’ll love to look back on for the rest of your life.

We have had so many amazing weddings with Sarah & her team, we are super lucky to have such talented folks at our finger tips!

meant2be events& vendor crush: artistry by azure

We love ranting and raving about good quality vendors!! Mainly because they do fantastic work and we don't have to babysit them to keep everything running smoothly and on time! One vendor we love to brag about is Azure Schaffer with Artistry by Azure. She is a phenomenal make up artist that is a specialist at transforming our already stunning brides into movie stars!

We asked her to answer some fun questions so you can get the inside scoop on her work and personality!

What inspired you to start your business?:
My first makeup inspiration came from visiting the MAC counter in high school; it was love at first sight.   While working for MAC I came to the realization that I had a passion for creating unique bridal looks and so naturally my business became more and more wedding focused.  Today about 80% of my business is weddings.

What is your favorite part of a wedding?:
I love the camaraderie of the girls spending the day together getting ready. Every wedding day is filled with emotion and excitement and I feel so honored to be a part of such a special moment.  I would say my favorite part of being a bridal makeup artist is that "wow" moment when I get to hand the mirror to the bride. Seeing her eyes light up when she realizes the moment she has been waiting for is here because she is now a bride.

What is unique about the service you offer?:
Also being a photographer, I understand the principals of makeup artistry from the perspective of a camera. I know what techniques and products to use in order to look your best in photos.  I am MAC certified and my kit consists of the top beauty products/tools in the industry.

If a movie was made about your business what would it be called?:
The movie would be called ART FROM THE HEART

What is your favorite cheesy wedding song?:
Cant help falling in love........

What is your favorite wedding cake flavor?:
 Lemon

What is the best advice you have for a bride in her planning process?:
Funny you ask.....Heres my list in the order of importance. LOL
  • Every Bride Needs 2 things; a wedding planner and false eyelashes
  • Don't get hammered the night before your wedding
  • Don't feel like you have to play host at your wedding; your guests are there to celebrate with you and if they see you enjoying yourself, naturally they will enjoy the party.
  • You get what you pay for........ don't look for deal and expect to be wowed.
  • Get your brows professionally done
  • Exfoliate your skin

Thank you again, Sarah, for making all of our clients look and feel amazing. We appreciate you!

Now go check out her website- she does crazy FABULOUS work. You will just love her.

Also, we have to give a shout out to Hagerty Photography, Sergio Photographer, and Justine Miller for the gorgeous photos of these lovely ladies!

We like to ask our vendor crushes personality and business questions to help you get to know them a little bit more to understand why we "crush" so hard.  Sarah came up with some really fun answers about her inspirations, her best advice, and even what she picks to be her life movie! Go get to know her. :)

What inspired you to start your business?

"After working in the beauty industry for many years, I was asked to do makeup for special events and weddings but never had the time.  When I had my second child I thought what better time to start a business on my own!  Little did I know how much time went into having your own business!  But it’s true what people say; “When you do what you love, you never work another day for the rest of your life!”

What is your favorite part of a wedding?

"Since I am a major part of the getting ready process- behind the scenes! I LOVE seeing all the candid moments my brides share with her best friends and closest family members. You really do get a better perspective about who they are from the stories they share with each other; how they met, silly things that have happened and just how much they truly love each other!  Then I love seeing how all the moments I was a part of, are captured in photography, which tells a love story... awe."

What is unique about the service you offer?

"I like to think I’m not just an artist hired for the big day, I become a friend over the many months of planning that goes into each brides wedding day.  I care about people, which is one of the many reasons I enjoy what I do which is shown in my work.  I create a look that showcases each one of my brides personality- not force upon her a cookie cutter look or what I want her to look like."

If a movie was made about your business what would it be called?

"Umm.. BRIDESMAIDS!  I am quirky and fun, but in the end, I know when to be serious and get the job done!"

What is your favorite cheesy wedding song?

"The Chicken Dance.. da-na-na-na-na dunn!"

What is your favorite wedding cake flavor?

"Ugh.. Do I have to pick just one??  Never met a cake I didn’t like!"

What is the best advice you have for a bride in her planning process?

"~ When it comes to make-up: Ask questions!  A pro knows each bride will have many questions, some might be the same they are asked over & over but some may be particular to her needs.
~ Find a Make-up Artist that really ‘listens’ to your likes & dislikes, understands your style & personality. Make sure he or she doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable if there is something that you don’t love.  Never forget, this is your wedding day so everything & everyone is here to accommodate you, not the other way around!
~ Ask about his or her experience in their profession.  This is important because you don’t want your day to be a “learning experience” when it comes to critical timelines & what looks fabulous or not in those professional photographs- that we all know is a small little investment. J
~ Portfolios are very important. Is the artists’ style compatible with how you envision yourself looking on your wedding day?
~ Always keep in mind when hiring a make-up artist; you are not only paying for a service for a single day, you are paying for experience- which is priceless!"

Thanks so much for getting to know one of our vendor crushes!!
